THERE'S A RAFT IN THERE?
The sequel comes with very little plot. Our foursome all have their child issues. David Spade suddenly has a long lost son so he doesn't miss out on the fun. There is an 80's theme party with a ridiculous townies vs. college boys fight.

The humor is still crude, but perhaps a bit less than before as I found it tolerable. The film mostly relies on one liners and insults as is typical in a Sandler production. This film also highlights the talents or lack thereof of many Hollywood larvae including the Sandler clan, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Paulina Gretzky. Team Jacob fans can watch Taylor Lautner in an uncredited role as Fratboy Andy. My how they have fallen.

Will work as a rental. No hurry to rush out and see it.

Parental Guide: Brief male rear nudity. 1 f-bomb. No sex. Sex talk and general crudeness including urination, feces, and fart humor.
Best comedy of the year
As if the movie 'Grown Ups' could get any funnier, they go and make Grown Ups 2 and completely blow everyone away! This movie had an amazing cast, tons of jokes, and a good plot. Shaq and Stone Cold guest star and it's a real hoot!
More of the same
If you liked the first one, then you'll like this one just as much.
For me, the first one was very forgettable and this one is no different.
Sandler is once again looking to just have some summer fun and get paid to do it. There is no real story to this movie. The entire plot could have been told in a 2 minute trailer. The rest of the time is a bunch of goofing off and some awkward situations. There are some funny lines in the movie, so it wasn't a bore. You get to see a lot of your favorite Sandler buddies and a few other surprises. Humor is not a crude as he can get like in other movies so was tolerable for a family. Some of his cruder/dumber movies I just won't watch at all. This one somehow kept me watching the entire movie. It all depends on what you are looking for in a movie. It was a fun movie, but a complete waste of time as far as I'm concerned.
Don't be surprised if there's a part 3 next summer.

Elysium (Two Disc Combo: Blu-ray / DVD + UltraViolet Digital Copy)

Above average sci-fi movie
I have never been a hardcore sci-fi fan but this movie definitely has a nice light scifi feel to it.

This movie has a similar feel to District 9 but with a bigger budget and more star power. Money and actors are definitely not the way to an instant classic but it definitely helps in this case, especially when the star power is Matt Damon.

This is the kind if movie that gives me hope that I can enjoy the sci fi genre. It feels to me that scifi rarely gets the Hollywood treatment, and when it does it is full of cliches and melodrama. I am happy to say that this movie is an exception.

What I really appreciated with this movie was that many scenes could have easily gone a certain way but instead the movie makes a slight tweak to liven things up. Even the gun battle sequences seemed to have something fresh to them.

If I had to choose I would still watch district 9 first but this movie was still fantastic. I think that if you are looking at this...
Damonysium Baby
Not quite 5-stars but it's ambitious, fast, thrilling and at times fantastic.

The visuals deliver the goods, just amazing, with a tip of the hat to the gritty look and feel of District 9. Also, and this is key, the fight and action scenes are intense and immersive. You feel like you are in them as you watch.

The plot is the classic Hollywood story split, and suspension of disbelief is a must to get the full ride from this movie. Part of the story takes place on Elysium , a highly secure, space habitat for the rich and wealthy. The other part of the story takes place on a wild and hairy 2154 Earth A.D. These stories evolve on their own and then merge to get the sparks flying.

The acting is solid as you would expect. Everyone gives pretty tight performances that help make the movie that much more entertaining.

In all, good sci-fi entertainment, that does what good sci-fi does: use the future to make you think about the present. It's a solid...
This movie is worth the purchase
Im not going to hold anything back and I mean really Im not. This movie was so good and I mean so good that I had to see it twice the defintion of the movie was the bomb in the IMAX theater... man and it wasnt even necessary to see it with those goofy 3d glasses!!! But anyways the movie plot was pretty original a great diverse of actors from here the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, and South Africa so its pretty special knowing the consideration on what Bloomkamp had in mind on making this film and having a scifi flick that was part bilingual was great hell I dont even like scifi movies cause I always think that theres always going to be some nerds (no offense) that are always going to be slap fighting if one of them want to reenact scenes or something or even that the star wars or star trek were better films than "ahem" this one. One of the funniest movies of the past few years: Laugh out loud, ridiculous fun.
With the amount of talent this has lined up, it would be strange if it was not a good time at the movies. Based on a short film called Jay & Seth vs. the Apocalypse, this movie ups the ante in every sense of the word. The comedy you have come to expect from Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Craig Robinson, James Franco, Jonah Hill, and Danny McBride is top notch. The rest of the cast, all playing themselves, is also played perfectly. Injected with horror in fact, some right out of famous horror films like Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist, this movie also brings the scares and gore, although it never loses sight that it is a comedy, first and foremost.

When Jay comes to LA to party with Seth, they end up hitting a party at James Franco's new, druglord-type mansion. All the celebrities are there: the main cast of 6 mentioned above, Michael Cera, Rihanna, and others that I won't spoil the cameos for. One of This Year's Funniest Movies, Despite the Weird Moments

THIS IS THE END is a whacky film that guarantees laughter from a wide-ranged audience. Directed and Produced by comedy super-team Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, THIS IS THE END brings many of the gut-busting hijinks viewers have grown accustomed to from their previous films SUPERBAD and PINEAPPLE EXPRESS.

This film is hilarious, largely due to each actor playing fictionalized versions of themselves. As expected, Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill retain their comedic pace from their other movies, but the unexpected comedy from Michael Cera, Emma Watson, James Franco, and even the Backstreet Boys is what carries this film from "haha" funny to hard-to-breath funny. Once Danny McBride enters the party, the already amplified laughs increase tenfold.

Some film viewers may be offended at some of the crass bantering, especially when Danny McBride is involved. If you are offended by conversations involving masturbation or by statues of genitalia, you may...
Rollercoaster of laughs ..but the end..PUKE!
The movie is getting a lot of flack, for whatever reasons.. I guess too many people are either stuck up and have never heard of suspension of disbelief, and they take the whole plot literally, as if to gripe "that's not how it's going to go down"..It was a ridiculous comedy..a lot of inside jokes and if you aren't familiar with the work of the actors in this film, you're gonna be left going "Huh???", which is probably the reason I had second thoughts about letting my neighbor borrow the movie - he's over 50 and takes that rapture stuff too seriously sometimes..to the point it's beyond annoying, so he won't understand. I changed my mind about letting him watch this movie, as I was handing him the discs... because, frankly, I don't wanna have future conversations about this with him..it's a comedy..that's all it is.

Not your typical Will Smith movie
I'll try not to give the plot away but my overall opinion is that this is a mediocre rental at best. I had high hopes for this movie as I'm a fan of post apocalyptic movies and futuristic movies. Adding Will Smith's good acting to the mix had me thinking this was a sure hit. Unfortunately-the movie follows his son Jaden Smith, whose acting skills are less than stellar. Will Smith does start out in the movie with a majority of the scenes but 15 minutes into the film and his exposure is cut to a him communicating with his son through basically a wrist walkie talkie. He is not involved in any of the action sequences in the movie and Jaden Smith's acting skills are not developed enough to carry a movie in my opinion. I can only assume he was cast in this movie as a favor to his father. Will's performance as a strict futuristic military type father is just ok as his character is supposed to come across as a very strict-almost unfeeling father and yet it's just stiff acting at best...
Not a good movie
I'm sorry to say I paid full price to see this movie in the theater. I felt robbed. I love science fiction and I am a Will Smith fan so what could go wrong? Everything. This movie was slow and the characters were not likable. The acting was horrendous and the plot....was there a plot, I can't remember I was so bored. I'm sorry to say I will never get that hour and a half of my life back. I'm giving it two stars because the special effects were decent.
I expected more!!!
I watched the movie first and did not read any reviews for it. I did hear this movie wasn't that good, but I gave it a shot anyways. Not surprised that there are mostly negative reviews than positive reviews on here. Anyways, let's get on with my review.

I thought this movie does have the story going for it, but you really have to "pay attention" to what is being said in the beginning of the movie. If you miss anything from what they told you, than most likely, you're going to get a little lost into it. The story is very interesting. Earth is slowly becoming an inhabitable planet, and so, the military made a department division called, The Rangers core. The Rangers go out and try to locate a new planet for Earth's people to live on. Eventually, they did find a new planet, Nova Prime, and the people of Earth move relocate there. They do find out that they were not alone on the planet. The Aliens of that world try to kill the humans by creating these new huge monsters that...
