Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - OVA Collection (Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack) [Blu-ray]

Nice addition to the Brotherhood Bluray Sets
First off, I am a huge fan of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. It is the first anime in about 10 years or so that i've watched more than once. The characters' emotions and developement felt very real to me, and I love the mix of humor and seriousness that makes you both laugh and cry throughout the story. I also happen to love the english voice actors, even though I realize there are huge sub vs dub camps out there. I personally tend to try to watch the English versions if the voice actors do it justice, and I think they largely succeed in this particular anime. But enough about that.

This dvd/bluray combo, especially at the roughly 13 dollars price, was worth it for me. I know some are upset about having to buy both, but i've paid 13 dollars for just a dvd before, so a 2-for-1 deal for what I got was good for me. I primarily buy bluray now but still enjoy having dvd or digital copies for use with my computer player.

I enjoyed all 4 of the OVA's, having never...
Great Purchase
For the inexpensive price, this DVD/Blu-Ray is well worth it. It contain 4 OVA's (all entertaining in their own special way) and 16 funny mini episodes presented in a comic-strip format parodying the series as a whole. This is a standard release, no commentary, only extras are the 16 mini episodes. The ovas all together run about 1 full hour. Buy this if you're a fan its a great deal.
FMA OVAs: A Must for Fans!
I DID NOT BUY THE BOX SET. However, since I saw there was so few reviews, I decided to write one, since I have seen the OVAs that are on the set.

OVA 1: The Blind Alchemist
Ed and Al hear of a blind alchemist named Judau who had supposedly performed successful human transmutation. Is it possible that human transmutation can be used to bring back the dead?

OVA 2: Simple People
A short story about Ed and his many trips to Risembool for arm repairs.

OVA 3: The Chronicle of Teacher
A story about Ed and Al's teacher, Izumi Curtis, and her training near Briggs.

OVA 4: Yet Another Man's Battlefield
A look into back at an 18 year-old Roy Mustang and his time at bootcamp.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the Comic Theater. However, I really enjoyed all four of the OVAs. However, they are side stories, and are not essential to understanding the basic plot of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Hope I helped!

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Complete Collection One [Blu-ray]

The Best Animated Series I Have Ever Seen...
That's right, this series isn't just one of the best Anime I've seen, it is the epitome of Anime in my mind, and one of the best animated television series I have ever experienced. Okay, so I'm a newbie who just finished the series and is on a bit of a high from the experience but I stand by my statements. Due to a series of random events I actually wound up buying the entire series just a few weeks ago and watching it for the first time. I bought the 5 separate Blu-ray releases that are currently available, it cost me substantially more than this set (about $200 total), but I'm still happy I did it, that's how much I love this series. So if you like this series and don't yet own it on DVD/Blu then you have to buy this repackaged Collection 1 set, in my opinion, there is nothing else to it.

This set includes the first 33 episodes of the series. A nice even breaking point that leaves the remaining 34 episodes on the eventual Collection 2.
As far as the episodes, yeah...
Fullmetal Alchemist Done Right.
I began in 2011 watching this series on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim with much scepticism already in hand. After all I have already seen and own the original Fullmetal Alchemist series and the movie. What was Funimation doing, milking us the fans with the same series with minor twists?

At first it seems this way. Granted the very first episode is radically different than the first episode of the first series. Still for about 8 episodes these series side by side are very much the same. THEN a divergence happened, things started to radically change. The two series were no longer mirrors of each. In time I actually had forgotten about the original series, the new rendition is that good.

Plot wise this series is a 10 out of 10, versus the original which I now rate a 5 out of 10. The Humunculi are really delved into in this series. There are better ones than in the first series. PLUS, all the original voices returned for this series, which is another 10 for...
Impossible to Regret Watching
I will begin this review by telling you who I am, so that you can compare your tastes to mine. I am a high school girl with all college classes. I enjoy books and anime that allow me to use my brain. This is my fourth anime. I enjoyed Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji very much, but did not appreciate the yaoi-driven fandom. I fell in love with the world of Soul Eater upon the first episode for the sheer hilarity of it- and this is where I begin with my review on Fullmetal Alchemist. If you have seen Soul Eater and enjoyed it, you should absolutely watch this. While FMA:B is most certainly not a comedy, a significant portion of SE's story line is based off of it, as well as the fact that Maka Albarn, SE's protagonist, is essentially(and purposefully) a female version of Edward Elric, the protagonist of this series, in back story, personality, and method of defeating enemies. On to the real review.

As far as the technical stuff goes- I absolutely loved the voice team. You will...

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Complete Collection Two [Blu-ray]

A Truly Superlative Series
Note: This is a review for the entire Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime, not for this particular volume of the set.

For the past several years, I had considered the original Fullmetal Alchemist to be my favorite anime of all time. It featured everything that I loved most about the genre: driven young protagonists, a fantastical and vibrant fictional world, a coherent set of combat mechanics, dynamic fight sequences, gorgeous animation, a well-thought-out and complete plot, and darker, more mature themes. Thus, when I heard that the series was being remade to more closely reflect Hiromu Arakawa's original manga series (which I have not read), I was excited to see the result. Could the full story written by the creator of the Fullmetal Alchemist universe manage to outdo the already-phenomenal anime that was more loosely based on her work?

The two answers to this question, I am happy to declare, are yes and hell yes. Although it gets off to a slightly uneven...
A Stupendous Ending to the Finest TV Show Ever Made
Calling Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood the greatest anime of all time does it a disservice; it is simply the finest television show ever created. The second half of the series, which composes this collection, is a perfect combination of a fascinating plot, fully fleshed-out characters, plot twists, and suspense. FMA: Brotherhood is equaled by no other.
The Most Fulfilling Anime Series You'll Watch
It's very rare for an anime series to have a complete and fulfilling finale. This series outshines the majority of what is out there in depth, consistency, and true closure for characters and plot lines. This is a fine series and should be watched by many people. I am hoping that one day this series (I really only consider this anime series rather than the first since this one is manga canon) gets the recognition and publicity it deserves because it is excellent. I think it would make a great live action series for a major network like HBO or Showtime to persue. It's so powerful!
